New Stuff

March 27, 2013

It has been a long time since I did a post on the new things that I have bought. After going crazy at the shops on Monday I thought this was the perfect opportunity to show you some of the things that I have bought recent and have yet to wear. Some of these are also presents I received for my birthday. So here goes… Image This grey burnout animal print skater skirt is from River Island. It is very flattering and I love the pattern on it. At €25 it was also a bit of a bargain so I really couldn’t leave it there. πŸ™‚ ImageImage So before I went to Athlone on Monday I had a quick look online at H&M. I knew I was going to do some damage as after I added what I liked to my bag it came to over €500!!! Thank god I did not spend that much but these two studded bags were on my wishlist. The coral one is such a lovely colour and is perfect for spring/summer. I really couldn’t decide between the coral and the white (you can never go wrong with white) so I bought both! The studs add an interesting detail, they are the perfect size and they only cost €13. The bag is also available in black. The nude bag was a birthday gift from my friend Lisa and I also love this bag. Again the zips add an interesting detail, the colour is very versatile and it is great quality! ❀ it! ImageImage I firmly believe that you can never have too many white tops. If you saw my wardrobe you would understand what I mean. I have a lot of white tops. These are my two newest. The first one is from Penneys and cost just €2, so I had to buy it. It’s perfect for wearing with everything. The second one is from Dorothy Perkins and is the top I wore in yesterday’s post. This costs €13 but was €11 for me after student discount. As I said yesterday, I love the fit of this top. It’s slightly oversized yet fits well.

This bright orange Miss Selfridge top was another birthday present. The colour will be perfect for summer.

IMG_4604 I have been looking for a top like this casual black H&M one for a while now and this one was just perfect. It only cost €8 and this is why I love H&M. I really think you get good quality at a great price. I tried this top on with the skirt below and loved the look so I bought the two of them to wear together. IMG_4612 I picked up this skirt and said I would just try it on to see how it looked. Once I had it on I LOVED it! The fit is amazing and as I said above, I loved how it looked with a loose fitting black top. The pattern is eye-catching and there is a leather and zip detail that runs from the front around to back of the skirt which adds a nice little extra twist. This skirt cost €20 so again I felt like I couldn’t leave it there. IMG_4606 A white blazer. A classic piece. A wardrobe staple. I do already own two white blazers but I don’t like either of them. The first one I bought is an oversized blazer and I got it for Β£40 in BikBok in London 3 years ago. I only bought it because I felt guilty spending Β£65 on the one I really wanted in Topshop. It was a big mistake as the fit was horrible and I only wore it once. I should have bought the Topshop one as I would have worn it again and again and really got my moneys worth. The second one I have I bought in Forever 21 in New York last year. It has some serious shoulder pads going on so I have never worn it and probably never will. So to cut a long story short, I have spent 3 years looking for the perfect white blazer. I found it in H&M on Monday for €30! πŸ™‚ IMG_4608 I have one word for this blouse… AMAZING. It was €25 in H&M and the material is fantastic. This was just one of the many blouses I wanted. Some of the other ones had embellishment and were so beautiful but they didn’t have my size, which is probably a good thing considering how much I bought. IMG_4609 The photo doesn’t even do this jacket justice. It’s FAB and kinda reminds me of a pattern Roberto Cavalli had in his Fall 2005 collection. Β It was €40 in H&M, which was kinda steep but it is a real statement piece that will last for years. IMG_4610

My Zara Wrap Mini Skort. Yes I said skort! Some people don’t believe me when I say skort but I definitely remember having some when I was younger. Basically it looks like a skirt from the front but it’s actually shorts. I love them and can’t wait to wear them. They are really flattering and great quality. They cost €30, but I bought them online so I ended up paying a little extra for shipping. They arrived in 2 days though by courier so it was a great service.

Next up is this Navy Molly Pleat Print Mini from A|Wear. I don’t know why it is described as being navy as it is more of a cobalt blue than navy. This is another item that the picture does not do justice, and the pictures on the website definitely don’t do it justice. I keep saying it but the fit is great and I love the colours. The pleat design also means that this will flatter any shape and even better… I bought it on sale for €15. πŸ™‚

Hats! The grey bowler hat was a present and it’s from Topshop. The straw fedora cost €5 and it is from Penneys. It will be great for summer, especially for a sun holiday. I’ve wanted one of these type of hats since I spotted celebs such as Jessica Alba and Miranda Kerr wearing them last year but thought I’d have to pay an fortune to get one. To my absolute delight Penneys had this one and it’ll do the job nicely. πŸ™‚

I know we really don’t have the weather to be buying bikini’s at the moment but you have to plan ahead with these things before all the good stuff is gone. This bikini was €5 in Penneys. Image Finally, I bought these shortsΒ from Rihanna’s River Island range. I hate to end on a sour note but I loved these when I watched her runway show yet in real life I wasn’t that impressed with them at all. I expected them to be black and white and they are actually black and grey. I was also less than impressed with the fit and they are quite see-through. Considering they cost over €40 I expected a lot more from them. Rihanna has said in the past how everything in this line she designed for herself and that is kinda the no. 1 no-no with fashion design. You have to design for your customers, not yourself. So I am undecided on these and may return them.

Anyway, I hope you like it,

Lorna. πŸ™‚ xx
