Hi guys,
How was your weekend? Yesterday I attended the Into the West Bloggers Network (#itwbn) meet-up in Galway and had such a great time meeting fellow bloggers, discussing different ideas and eating and drinking delicious treats. I’ll have a post sharing the outfit I wore and pics from the event for your guys very soon. If you follow me on Instagram you may have already seen the snaps I shared from yesterday’s event. I love Instagram and post most frequently over there, so if you don’t already follow me be sure to do so right here. 🙂
Onto today’s look. I was recently contacted by the lovely ladies at Kildare Village to participate in their #DayTripToChic campaign that is running throughout the summer. The whole idea behind the campaign is to show the chic outfits worn on day trips around Ireland (they also have a video about the campaign on their website that you can see here). I thought it was a great idea and an amazing way to highlight some of the fantastic locations the west of Ireland has to offer. I also have a bucket list of places I want to visit and things I want to do this summer, so I used this campaign to motivate myself to get some of them done asap. First stop was Cong in Co. Mayo…
I live about 20 minutes from Cong but it’s not a place I visit very often. I have been to Ashford Castle a few times before and wanted to go back again this summer because the castle was recently re-opened after refurbishments. So I set off intending to check out the beautiful grounds of the castle (they are spectacular!!). When I got to Cong I decided to take a quick stroll around the village and before I knew it, I had shot my first look. So I guess the castle will have to wait until another day. 😉 Cong is such a pretty little tourist village though. It’s like a mini version of Westport, but they have this amazing 5* castle to offer and then of course it’s claim to fame is that the 1952 Hollywood movie The Quiet Man was filmed here. In Cong you’ll find The Quite Man Museum, pub and some little cottages with plaques highlighting the villages time in the spotlight. I absolutely loved it and it was such a beautiful day too, which always makes such a difference. Another thing I loved about the village… a walking bridge over the river highlights the fact that half the river is in Mayo and the other half is in Galway, so I can now say I was in two places at once (can you guess the movie reference??) 😉
As the sun was shining, I got to wear one of my favourite recent looks. You might recognise it from Instagram (I’ve shared it three times here, here and here) and from a pic in this recent post. It’s a pretty simple look – a crisp white shirt, a summer skirt that fits like a glove, my go-to black bag for day time, my fav new flats and some gold jewellery. I think it’s perfect for a day trip, especially on a glorious summers day. As always, you’ll find my outfit details at the bottom of this post. 🙂
I hope you like my first take on the #DayTripToChic campaign. Keep your eyes peeled for more before the end of August.

[…] July and August were another two jam packed months. In July I made my second trip to London, went to The Galway Races (with all of my college friends – it’s our annual thing) and was the guest judge for The Newport Queen. I also finally made my decision that New York was 100% the next place for me. In August I attend my first blogger meet-up and made some trips around the beautiful Irish countryside, ticking off a few things I had on my Ireland bucket list along the way and some more of my favourite 2014 outfits. See some more of my favourite looks from this time of the year here, here and here. […]
