Happy Thursday. I’m having the weirdest week this week. On Tuesday I kept thinking it Wednesday and then yesterday I kept thinking I was Thursday. Isn’t that just the worst? Anyway… today is Thursday, so there’s still two full days until the weekend. I think the problem may be that I’m a little too excited for this weekend. Ciara arrives back in New York after being home for the last few weeks and her birthday is coming up. My birthday was last week (did you see my birthday wishlist?) and seeing as neither of us are big on doing anything major for our birthdays, we’re going to have a little birthday celebration with bottomless brunch on Sunday. Bottomless brunch is huge in New York but, believe it or not, I really haven’t done that many of them. After being super quiet/sensible for the last few weeks, I’m excited to have a little fun.

I’m also glad I’m doing something to mark the occasion. Before I’m moved to New York I never did anything for my birthday. I really don’t like making a fuss and making people feel like they have to do something or be somewhere, but a few people have changed my mind over the past year. The oh-so wise and uplifting Lisa D told me you should never pass up the chance to celebrate having the opportunity to get older (or something along those lines – sorry Lisa if I totally messed this up). Laura, one of my best friends from home who also happens to live in NY, offered the following words of wisdom – your birthday is an opportunity to celebrate all the amazing things that happened in the past year (SO much happened in 2015) and set new goals for the year to come. They’re both so so right. So this weekend, I’m gonna enjoy my bottomless brunch and be happy I’ve the chance to celebrate getting older. You know what they say – “Do not regret getting older, it’s a privilege denied to many.”
