Nars Concealer | Too Faced MascaraNars Foundation | Biossance Cleansing Oil
Clinique Happy Heart Perfume | YSL Lipstick

I’ll openly admit I’m not the best when it comes to beauty. It’s funny, I’ve always been up for trying anything when it comes to clothes, but I’ve never really been adventurous when it comes to make up and skincare. I usually rely on recommendations from my sisters, friends and other bloggers when I try out new products.

Over the last year, and especially over the last few months, I’ve been trying make an extra effort to step out of my comfort zone and get better at expanding my beauty horizons. So far I think I have been doing pretty good, so I thought I’d share some of my recent favs, with a little description of exactly why I’m loving them…

  1. Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer

I’ve been using this Nars concealer for about a year and it is amazing. Erika from Retro-Flame absolutely swore by it, so I tried it out and LOVED it! I don’t know what it is about New York, but the days are jam packed, you’re always on the go and you definitely don’t get enough sleep. This of course means lots of tired eyes and this concealer is amazing at covering them up.

As a cheaper alternative, I also love the Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer. It’s an amazing dupe of the Nars! I wear the Nars concealer in Vanilla and the Collection concealer in Fair 1.

  2. Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara

I’ve probably been using this Too Faced mascara for the last year too. This was another recommendation from Erika, and it’s amazing. I made the mistake of recently switching it up a little and going back to a Dior mascara I used to use. I really wish I didn’t. The Too Faced one is cheaper and SO much better!

I get a lot of snaps on Snapchat (@lcscloset) looking for mascara recommendations and this is the one I always say. It does tend to dry up a little towards the end, but it’s still the best mascara I’ve used in a looooong time!

  3. Nars All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation

I am super super loyal when it comes to my foundation. I used Chanel Pro Lumiere for years (I loved it), then I used Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk (which I also loved), but every few years I decide it’s time to mix things up a bit and try something new. I don’t know is it just me, but I think there’s almost more of a risk involved in buying a foundation. I think I’m so loyal to foundations, because I don’t want to spend $50-$70 on a foundation I end up hating. So I just end up sticking to what I know works for me.

I’d seen a lot of glowing reviews for this Nars foundation online, especially from other bloggers. Thankfully, Sephora give out little foundation samples, so I was able to try this out before I invested my hard earned $50 and I loved it! I prefer light-weight foundations, so this is perfect for me. I use it as my night time foundation (I use a really light No.7 foundation during the day) and it gives me the coverage I want. So if you like lighter foundations, I definitely recommend this one. If you like something with a bit more coverage, this may not be the one for you.

  4. Biossance – The Purifier Cleansing Oil

This is the newest addition to my beauty collection. Living in New York has definitely taken it’s toll on my skin (I wasn’t IDed for the first time ever when I was home at Christmas – :O ), so I’m trying to take better care of it by upping my daily routine. I started using The Purifier Cleansing Oil from Biossance to take off my make up a few weeks ago and I’m really loving it. It’s so gentle on my skin and it means I only have to use one product to take all my make up off a night (AH-MAZING!)! I follow it up with The Nouriser, a rose gold face oil, and another Biossance product, then apply some eye cream and that’s my nightly routine. It’s so quick and easy, which is exactly what I need.

I’m really loving these two products. I’ve noticed a difference in my skin since I started using them and face oil leaves my skin so amazingly soft!!

There is also an offer running with Biossance until the end of March where you can get $10 off any order that’s $50 or more with the code JUSTFORYOU10.

  5. Clinique Happy Heart Perfume

I’m really loyal to perfumes too, but I have been trying to branch out and become a little more adventurous with my choice of scent. This is totally because my sister has every possible perfume imaginable and I have such a pathetic collection, so I thought it was time I upped my game.

My current fav is Happy Heart from Clinique. This was a birthday gift from Niamh (aka Cinnamon Soul) and I just adore it. I literally wear it everyday. It’s a really fresh and slightly floral scent, which I love and think is perfect for this time of year.

  6. Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Volupté Shine

I don’t know how I do it, but I somehow always manage to amass a huge collection of lipsticks and lip glosses. I shared a snap on Snapchat (lcscloset) of just some of lipsticks/lip glosses a few weeks ago and although I have quite the collection (well quite the collection for me), my YSL Rouge Volupté Shine is hands down my fav. And it’s not just because of the super pretty and totally Instagram worthy packaging.

I bought this lipstick (in shade 23) last September right before I went home for the first time in a year. It was my woohoooooooo, you survived your first year in New York present to myself. I also bought a different shade for my mother, and she loves hers too. I love the texture of the lipstick, how it feels when it’s on and it tastes pretty good too. Then of course there is also the super pretty packaging, which takes it to a whole new level. 🙂

There you have some my current beauty favs… If you have any suggestions of products you think I should try out, I’d love to hear them. You can leave a comment below, or you send me a message/comment on Snapchat or Instagram (username: lcscloset).

Looking forward to hearing your suggestions,

Lorna x
