Grey Coat: SheIn
Coat weather is officially here – YAY! I don’t know what it is, but I can’t resist a good coat. I love them! I think this love started when I was 3 or 4. My sister and I had these gorgeous red coats with a black trim around the collar and we were always so happy when we got to wear them. They were our Christmas/special occasion coats and I’d happily still wear them today if I could.
More recently, my love for a good coat grew when I working at the races. My Dad is a bookie, so I pretty much worked at the races all through school and college. As I spent all my summers and weekends wrapped up at racecourses all over Ireland, I had a good logic to justify buying coats. I used to tell myself (and my mother!) I couldn’t possibly wear the same coat everyday, so every year I needed invest in at least one new coat to build my collection and make sure I had options. Makes sense right?…

I know I don’t work at the races anymore, but I still buy a new coat (or 5) every year. Now my logic is that I spend a good 7-8 months in coats, so I need to be able to mix it up and wear different ones (any excuse right?)! You might find it hard to believe this, but I moved to New York 2 years ago without a coat. Yep, you read that right. I didn’t have one coat to my name and now I’ve built up quite the collection.
My winter coats are actually one of the things I get most questions about, so for today’s post I decided to share my staple ones. I think if you have a good camel, grey, black, and cream coat you are set for any occasion. This may seem excessive to some people, but they all serve a different purpose (trust me) and if you have one of each, you’ll never be stuck for something to wear.
I do love a good statement coat to mix things up too. I have a few statement coats and they are always guaranteed to get so much attention when I wear them. They are all from the same SheIn and really didn’t break the bank. I have this long colour block coat and a shorter pink and grey colour block coat (I do love some colour block!). I also have this one on the way, because clearly I have a problem… Oops!
Are you a one winter coat kinda gal? Or are you like me who can never enough?
