It’s The Most Wonderful Time…

They really weren’t lying when they said this is the most wonderful time of year. I mean just look at the light in these pictures or some of my recent Instagram’s from Central Park and you’ll see exactly what I’m talking about. It’s just so beautiful right now and it’s only getting better as Christmas is about to get into full swing. THE tree arrived last Thursday, the first of the christmas windows were revealed last week and most of the others will be revealed this week (eeek!). The Rockettes Christmas Spectacular has also kicked off, the Plaza have their decorations up and by the weekend Christmas will firmly have arrived in New York – just in time for Thanksgiving.

Thanksgiving is my favourite American holiday and my absolute all-time favourite time of year here. Part of the reason I love autumn in New York so much is because of Thanksgiving. For me, the best way to describe it is Christmas without the presents. In a way Thanksgiving heralds the arrival of Christmas as once it’s over, Christmas mania gets into full swing! Thanksgiving is followed by Black Friday too, which is on a par with the St. Stephen’s Day sales at home. I do try to avoid the Black Friday mania (Zara is my only exception), but I’ll happily spend the day walking up and down Madison and 5th Avenues soaking up the festive atmosphere… It’s the best!

Everyone is in a good mood at this time of year too. It’s the start of the party season, a lot people take time off and the food… Let’s not forget about the food. Personally, I love how Thanksgiving breaks up the Christmas period. It’s like there’s another focus before the craziness of Christmas takes over, and there’s something really nice about that.

Anyway, enough about my love and excitement for Thanksgiving (it’s only 10 days away – eeeeks!) and a quick word about my look! I’m loving layering up with maxi shirt style jackets lately. They feel super glam but not in an over the top way. They’re a really quick and easy way to dress up a super simple, casual look too. I don’t know what it is but when I’m wearing them I almost feel like I walk taller… It’s hard to describe, but I love the overall look they create. The one I’m wearing here is from Boohoo and they have it in a few colours. I also have this Zara one that is sold out but I managed to track down an identical one on SheIn here.
