How is your A/W wardrobe shaping up? Without a doubt, one of the most important pieces you can invest in for A/W is a great coat. Now I know some coats can be a bit pricey, but this is something you could be wearing every single day, so splashing a little extra cash on the right one is always a good idea. I usually invest in one key coat/jacket every A/W. Last year was an exception as I knew I was gonna be spending Christmas in sunny Australia, but usually I am willing to spend a little bit more on a great piece. There are a few reasons why I think this spending is completely justified. Firstly, you will be wearing it ALOT! Secondly, it’s gonna keep you warm and toasty all through winter and beyond. Thirdly, a coat is one of the most visible items you can buy. When you’re wearing it, it’s the first thing anyone you meet will see, so if you wanna make a good impression it’s always worth investing in a good quality piece. Finally, if you spend a little more on a coat, you will probably get a few seasons out of it. I know some coats I bought 5 or 6 years ago are still in perfect condition, so it can turn out to be a real investment piece.
Of course, like everything else, coat trends change from season to season but even when trends change, I always think a coat is piece you can get a way with wearing again and again, even after the trend is long gone. Some of the biggest trends this A/W are faux-fur (which I am loving), capes (love this one too), check prints (and this one), mono-tones (ah who I am kidding… I love all of these trends) and bold vivid colours (you guys know I love a good pop of colour). Below I have shared my top coat styles from some of my favourite high street stores… I’ve also shared links to where you can buy them and if you keep scrolling down I’ll pick out you my top 3. 🙂
Of all of the coats I have chosen here, I personally think Warehouse’s pieces are amazing. The impeccable tailoring and clean cuts make the pieces extremely stylish. They are also quite timeless and items you will be able to whip out again next year. While I do love these three Warehouse pieces, if I had to walk into a shop right now and buy three coats, without a shadow of a doubt, the leopard print Mango coat would be top of my list. Leopard print is a tricky one to get right. The wrong print can look so tacky, but this coat is just perfect and just imagine how warm it would keep you when the temperatures plunge. I’d also choose the checked River Island coat. I have tried this on (a friend bought it) and to say I instantly fell in love is an understatement. I WANT it… and I am hoping River Island get it back in my size before I leave for America. Finally, my last pick is between the blue fur collar River Island Coat, the long navy Zara coat and the grey Warehouse cape. I love them all but I think I’d probably go with the River Island coat. I love the pale blue colour and the fur trim collar adds a real touch of elegance…
Which one is your fav? Happy Shopping…
