Back to reality today after a long weekend here in New York. If you saw my last post, or if your follow me on Snapchat and Instagram (@lcscloset), you’ll know I spent yesterday doing some fun things for New York Fashion Week. I kicked the day off (with a coffee!) by getting my hair and make up done at Caravan Stylist Studio, before heading to the Tommy Hilfiger Fall 16 show! The show, theme and set were amazing and I’m so happy I had the chance to go. Erika was there too, so it was fun to be able to experience it with one of the girls. Then last night, despite the snow, I went to another fun blogger event.
It’s way too easy to get lazy when the weather is not the most inviting, but something I heard right after I moved here that has stayed with me was – “If you have a chance to do something in New York, do it. You never know what might happen.” I couldn’t agree more!…
You know it’s funny, I think all of us suffer from the imposter syndrome at some stage of our lives. I remember feeling it when I did higher level maths for my leaving cert and every single day through out my PhD. But I think it was when I moved to New York and was attending blogger events here that I felt this more than ever. I felt like I shouldn’t really be there because my blog wasn’t big enough or something silly like that. I was stupidly comparing myself to other people, when in reality we all have something different to offer, and if I’m getting invited to these events, clearly other people think I have too. As reassuring as this is (having a really supportive group of girls is a major plus too!), I’m kinda mad at myself for not figuring this out from the get go…

I don’t really know what I’m trying to say here… I guess it’s a little bit of –
1. Don’t compare yourself to others (one of my key takeaways from Inbound)
2. Believe in/value yourself
3. You should be doing/attending/whatever, just as much as the next person!
Whoops – this post ended up getting a lot deeper than expected, but I’m so grateful that my blog allows me to do these fun things!
Enough about all that… Let’s talk about my look. Again, if you follow me on Snapchat or Instagram you’ll know this is the look I wore to the Tommy Hilfiger yesterday. I’m gonna be totally honest and admit this was a complete last minute thing. I bought the shirt and culottes in Zara on Sunday and the leather jacket/(heat tech) polo neck were completely not planned. It was so cold yesterday though that there was no way I would have survived without layering up with my jacket and head to toe thermals. Yep, believe it or not I’m wearing leggings under my culottes. Oh Fashion Week in February is oh so glam.
Hope you’re having a good week,
Lorna x
