It’s that time of year in New York… Time for the big ole wardrobe switch-a-roo. Having lived in Ireland for most of my life, completely changing my wardrobe twice a year is still quite a new concept. I did have way more space and a wardrobe easily 8 times the size of my wardrobe here in New York, which I’m pretty sure helped the cause. But at home we can get away with wearing pretty much the same type of clothes 50 weeks a year. That’s not gonna work in NYC.
I always say the fact New York gets all 4 seasons is one of my favourite things about living here, but packing away my beloved summer clothes is never something I look forward to. It’s not that I don’t love autumn clothes… I do! September is actually my favourite time of year for shopping (fun fact!!) and I’m really loving being able to dress a little more snug over the last few weeks. I think the weather right now in New York (minus the weekend rain) is my ideal weather. What gets me is the fear of what lies ahead, and by what lies ahead of course I mean winter…

As much as I absolutely dread the thought of winter (it’s on another level!), I do always try to remember something that was said to me right after I moved here. My first winter here was brutal, but one die hard New Yorker said ‘You know what? Winter is horrible, but for 3 other seasons there’s no better place to be. So if I have to suffer through 3 months of winter to get to the good 9 months… I’m good with that.’ As much as I’m dreading the thought of winter… I think I’m good with it too!
For now, I’m just making the most of my favourite season here (in my not so wintery top) and slowly transitioning in autumn…
Hope you’re having a good week,
Lorna x
p.s. Please excuse the extreme frizz of my hair in these snaps, it was 100% raining when we shot but we struggled through. Oh the glam blogger life…
