Hello from New York

September 26, 2014
hello new york: irish blog

Greetings from NYC! Yep… that’s right, I’ve made the big move to New York. You might have noticed I have been a little quiet here on the blog this week and that’s partly because I had SOOO much to get organised, but I also really just wanted to spend as much time with my friends and family before I took off. As my departure date drew closer and closer, I started to think of two very different things – all of the things I was looking forward to (obviously), but also some of the things I was going to miss about home.

All too often we think the grass is greener on the other side, and that those who live away from home are loving life and never get homesick. That’s definitely not true, and while I have been dying to make a move abroad for quite some time, there are many things I am going to miss about home…

So off the top of my head, here are some of the things I’m going to miss. I’ll end on a positive note by sharing what I am looking forward to over the next year. 🙂

What I’m going to miss…

Obviously, I’m going to miss my friends and family but here’s a few more things I thought of:
Penney/Primark – I’m sure you’ve noticed I love me some Penneys? 🙂
Irish/UK high street stores in general.
Mam’s Sunday roast.
Baking – If you follow my Instagram you will probably know I LOVE to bake. I can still bake here but I’m thinking I’m gonna have to downsize.
My Car – My car is my baby and I’m gonna miss it SOOOOOO much.
My Dogs – Gonna miss these two rascals,
Downton Abbey – I am obsessed with Downton Abbey. I’ve been waiting for Season 5 to start since January and it FINALLY started back last Sunday at home. I saw the first episode but I have to wait until January to catch the rest here…. WAAAH!!!
Chocolate – Nowhere in the world does chocolate like the UK and Ireland.
Coleslaw – I LOVE me some coleslaw and the Americans just don’t do it the same.
The familiar

What I am looking forward to…

The adventure that lies ahead…
Experiencing new things that I would never get to do in Ireland.
Exploring new places.
Meeting new people.
Brunching.
Trying out all of New York’s amazing bakery’s and cupcake stores.
Seeing a Broadway show.
Easy access to FRO-YO!!!
Thanksgiving.
Fall.
Halloween
(it’s so much bigger over here).
The build up to Christmas.
Ice-skating at the Rockerfeller Centre.
Black Friday/Cyber Monday.
Shopping
(of course) 😉
The unknown

Next week I am going to FINALLY start posting my about my Oz travels (just as I move to another country), so be sure to check back to see what we got up to on the East Coast. To keep up-to-date with my New York adventures be sure to follow me on Instagram (@lcscloset). I definitely update Instagram more than any of my other social media accounts and I have my American phone sorted now so I’ll be #Instahappy.

Hope you guys have a great weekend,
