New York Favourites: Coffee Spots

best coffee in new york 4

It’s time for another of my New York favourite posts. This time it’s all about the best places to get your caffine fix around Manhattan. It’s funny to think that this time last year I didn’t even drink coffee, but like I said in my New York truths post, you need coffee here. Before I left Ireland my sister did tell me I should start drinking coffee as a social kinda thing (she got hooked in Australia) and it was one of the first things Erika said to me when I met her.

They were both right, and now I’m partial to more than one or two cups of coffee a week (whether I want them or not). Since the start of the summer, I’ve even started going out of my way to have a coffee every Friday morning as a little treat at the end of the week. It’s probably not a good thing, but it sure is a nice way to kick off the weekend.

Like with everything over here, I always like to try out new places. So here’s my list of go-to coffee shops.

1. Bluestone Lane

best coffee in new york 5If you follow me on Instagram and Snapchat (usernames: lcscloset) you may have noticed my slight obsession with Aussie coffee spot Bluestone Lane. My first experience of Bluestone was at the cafe in The West Village last autumn. Then, right before Christmas the Bryant Park Bluestone opened beside where I was working and BOOM… I was addicted!

They hands down have the best/tastiest coffee in New York (well in my opinion anyway) and the most amazing Avo Smash you’ll ever experience. I don’t work near a Bluestone (sadface) but this is the place I go out of my way to visit every Friday morning (as a little celebratory you made it through the week treat).

Where can you find it:

The West Village – 55 Greenwich Ave (this is the Cafe, which has lots of seating and a full menu)
Bryant Park – 1114 Avenue of the Americas (on the corner of 43rd and 6th)
Midtown East – 805 3rd Ave (between 49th and 50th Streets)
Financial District – 30 Broad St
Upper East Side – 2 E 90th St – This is the latest addition to the Bluestone family and the location pictured at the top of this post.

2. Two Hands

best coffee in new york 6Another Aussie spot, Two Hands is a little cafe in NoLita with delicious coffee and some seriously tasty food. They also do a good avo smash, some fab acai bowls and other healthy (and not so healthy) treats.

Where can you find it:

164 Mott St (between Grand and Broome Streets)

3. Fika

best coffee in new york 10A coffee place that’s not Aussie! Fika is a Swedish coffee company (apparently Swedes are big coffee drinkers) and the word ‘Fika’ literally means ‘take a coffee break.’ I discovered Fika en route to work (I pass three of them) and whenever I’m feeling a little on the tired side on my way to work, I always pop in for my little pick me up.

Where can you find it:

All over Manhattan (too many for me to list!). Take a look at their locations page to find out more.

4. Café La Cerra

best coffee in new york 2Café La Cerra is the cutest. White walls, huge mirrors, marble tables, and a perfect tiled floor. I’ve yet to sample their avo smash but their coffee is fab and their sweet treats are way too delicious for my own good.

Where can you find it?

489 3rd Avenue (between 33rd and 34th Streets)

5. Little Collins

bests coffee in new york 7Another Aussie spot makes the list. The Aussie’s sure know how to do coffee… and Little Collins do a great avo smash too (excuse the crappy pic!)!

Where can you find it:

667 Lexington Ave (between 55th and 56th Streets)

6. A Little Taste

best coffee in new york 3This Chelsea gem is brand new to my list. I tried A Little Taste out this week and it’s too cute to even begin describing. If you like frothy coffee, then this is place for you. It was hands down the frothiest coffee I’ve ever had!

Where can you find it:

148 West 28th St (between 6th and 7th Avenues)

These are my top picks for the best coffee in New York so far (Bluestone is still at the top!), but there’s always a new place to try out. If you have any recommendations, please let me know.

Have a fab weekend,

Lorna x
