Sunday in New York

I hope the week is treating you well. As I am sure you have guessed, today I’m gonna share what I got up to here in New York last Sunday. Sundays are a real relaxed day and so far have been the day I really (unintentionally) explore the city… I just love it. The weekend before last I ended up in Brooklyn (which you can see here) and last weekend I explored the West Village. There are just so many places…

I started off my day with a good old #fromwhereistand snap while I was waiting for the subway. It’s a great way to kill some time, but I did look a lil crazy in front of my fellow passengers… Oh well! I was en route to the West Village to meet another Irish girl (Nicola) for brunch. Brunch is so amazing over here. It’s one of my favourite times of the week (I’m already looking forward to brunch again this weekend… seriously, we’ve kinda been talking about it all week). I got a little distracted strolling from 14st to the West Village by all of the amazing colours of the leaves. They were just incredible. If I have time, I way prefer walking around the city because you just never what beautiful sights (such as these gorgeous trees) you’re gonna see.

I finally stopped snapping, concentrated on what I supposed to be doing and met the lovely Nicola. We headed to an English restaurant called Whitehall for a seriously delicious brunch of avocado toast, crumpets and some mimosas (of course!). After brunch I had planned to go to Woodlawn to pick up my camera (I finally have it back – YEAH!), but plans changed and before I knew it I was sitting in Bluestone Lane Collective Cafe (a really cool Oz restaurant that is top of my brunch list) with Erika from Retro-Flame drinking a chi latte. I don’t drink coffee and this chi latte didn’t do much for me… It was absolutely freezing last Sunday though, so I really needed something to warm me up. I guess I’m just going to have to stick to the pumpkin spiced lattes I have been embracing in the run up to Halloween (they don’t really taste like coffee).

Erika was en route to The Highline and, seeing as I was free for the evening, I decided to join her. I’m so glad I did because we squeezed so many things from our to-do lists into our evening. Our stroll from the cafe to The Highline took us down Perry St, which of course is the home of Carrie’s world famous stoop from Sex and the City. There is some construction work going on so it was hard to get a good pic but we tried our best.

The next stop took us to BOOKMARC . Both of us had seen this place in Life of Lady Bear’s guide to the West Village and we couldn’t wait to check it out. There is so many amazing books that would double up as great pieces of decor, so when I’m feeling a little more flush I’ll be back to invest. My favourite item had to be this “Shit I’ll Never Get Done” notepad. I think I actually LOLed because it’s so me. I make to-do lists every single day. It’s not that I don’t do what’s on the list, I do… I just never actually use them. So I think I’m gonna have to go back for one of these for sure…

Right across the road from BOOKMARC is the world famous Magnolia Bakery (there’s a few in Manhattan but this one is the most famous). If you’ve ever been on the The Sex and the City tour then you will know this place (they give you a free cupcake on the tour). The cakes looked absolutely incredible and I was so close to getting a slice of red velvet cake, but I went with a seriously delicious red velvet cupcake instead… I’ll be back for cake though. I’m expecting lots of visitors this year so I’ll have lots of excuses. 🙂

Our stroll through the West Village took us down some of the cutest little Vespa filled streets. I swear, there were Vespa’s everywhere. This cute pink one was definitely my favourite… Sooooo girly!

When we made it to The Highline we made beeline for some hot chocolate to warm us up. The cold was getting to us and I realised I really need to start investing in some (thermal) winter coats and boots. The light was absolutely incredible on Sunday evening, but it was super windy so my pictures didn’t come out the best. I did get some more pics of trees though (am I a little tree obsessed?). Aren’t the colours incredible?

So that was my fun-filled jam packed NYC Sunday. My outfit was geared 100% to keeping warm and you can check out my outfit details below. My shoes are brand new. I was a little bold in H&M on Saturday (you may have already seen this pic on my Instagram?) and these are one of the items I bought.

Just to let you guys know, after a little gentle persuasion, I’ve set up a Snapchat account for LC’s Closet so you guys can follow me in real-time on my adventures around NYC. So please add me (my username is lcscloset) to keep-up-to-date with what I’m getting up to. As always, I update my Instagram everyday so be sure to follow me (@lcscloset) there too.

Hope you guys enjoyed this post. Would you like me to share posts like this more often?

Let me know,
