Hunter Mountain Ski Trip

February 3, 2016

I’m a little late to the party with this post but better late than never right?  I don’t know what it is about January (Happy February – We survived Jan, whoop whoop!), but it always seems to kick my ass when it comes to blogging. I do have a good reason for being MIA throughout the month though… well kinda! Some of you may know that I started a new job before Christmas, so I’m still trying to find my feet. January is such a busy month and I’ve been figuring out/doing a lot of things for the first time. Honestly, the days have been flying by and I am really enjoying it. I’m challenged, learning a lot and I think it’s a good thing that the days pass by without even noticing. 🙂

I had intended posting about our Ski trip over a week ago, but life/work took over and do you know what… That’s totally ok! There was a time when I would have been beating myself up so bad for not having the post up right away but I really believe taking time to do these things right is better than posting for the sake of it. So I’m more than happy to wait a few extra days. I’ve also came to realise that when you’re working full time (some really long days!) and trying to have a life, sometimes something’s gotta give. So I’ve started to give myself a little break when I amn’t posting as much as I’d like to…

Anyway… Enough about all that (does anyone even notice anyway?)! If you follow me on Snapchat and Instagram (username: lcscloset), you may have seen a big gang of us went skiing on Hunter Mountain last weekend. It was the weekend Storm Jonas hit and my mother thought we were out of our minds for even thinking about going skiing. Little did she know we didn’t get ANY snow!!!…

Hunter Mountain is about 2 and half hours north of Manhattan. The snow didn’t make it that far north, so we had to settle for the man made kind. 8 of us rented a cute cabin and spent the weekend on the slopes. Most of us had never been skiing before, so we kicked off the weekend with a skiing lesson. This was definitely the best move (although I still spent a lot of time on my ass). Without those lesson I would have 100% face planted a tree and the instructor easily picks up on things your doing wrong.

Sunday was a real chill day. The girls (Erika, Michaela, Niamh and Ciara) and I relaxed in the cabin all morning and spent the afternoon tubing. I absolutely loved this! It was so much fun, so if you’re going skiing sometime this year you definitely have to make time for this.

As always the weekend flew by and before we knew it we were back in Manhattan surrounded by the aftermath of Storm Jonas. I have never seen anything like the snow!! It was insane.

It’s always great to leave the city for these little breaks and it makes coming back that bit more special too.

I hope January was good to you,
